Ubisoft Pushes back Watch_Dogs and The Crew.

It looks like Watch_Dogs isn't coming out in November as planned -Ubisoft blogged the games new release will be an ambiguous "spring 2014".

Ubisoft claims they struggled with the thought of delaying the game, but decided that, in its final push, the game needed a little more polish.

When asked by Kotaku about retailer made bundles that included the game, and if players should cancel them now, Ubisoft replied:

Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo understand the importance of releasing games of the very highest quality for their consoles. Our partnership with Sony remains strong and we will have more details to share about the specific benefits of this partnership for PlayStation customers at a later date.

And...

We hope that players who have pre-ordered the game will still look forward to playing it in Spring 2014, and that the extra polish and quality we’ll be able to add to the game will ensure a fantastic gaming experience.

Ubisofts MMO racing game The Crew has also been moved to the equally ambiguous range of "next fiscal year," which can go anywhere from April 1st till March 31st of the following year.

My Take On This:

This isn't a big deal: This isn't the first console launch that's seen a game, even a big game, be pushed back a little. I don't really get why people, especially media, are acting like it is.

Second thing about this is I don't understand the idea that just because this one game is being pushed back, people would want to cancel their highly sought after console pre-order. Seriously, at least in my mind, people want the console first, then the game. If this is the only game you wanted at launch, and thats going to stop you from getting the system, then you should have probably waited for more games any way. As grumpy as that sounds.

Also, Kotaku acting like it's Ubisoft's problem that retailers did what retailers do, and bundled the game with systems at launch, is the disconcerting part. It isn't: it's the retailers problem at best; they're the ones who created the bundles. I normally won't back Ubisoft on much, but it wasn't an officially packaged bundle, like the Killzone one that Europe is getting for the PS4. If that game had been pushed back, then I'd say ask this question of Sony, but we all know the canned response still would have been "The (insert system here) still has a lot more to offer."

Also, not that I'm indicative to everyone in the world, but who was really looking forward to The Crew? I forgot it even existed. Maybe not something I should admit to.
